Shared hosting for you game or arcade site Shared hosting is the cheapest hosting there is. This is ok if you are just starting out and have light traffic. However when you start getting alot of traffic/visitors theres a chance your web hosting provider may cancel or close your account.
The number may vary by provider but one person who had 1000 unique visitors per day was booted from Bluehost while at the same time another person was recieving 3000+ uniques and has no problems yet.
If your site is brand new I would recommend using the shared host until your traffic reaches a level where everything slows down. By this time you should be making enough money on your site to move up to the next level.
Shared hosting can run anywhere from $2 per month up to about $40 per month, some shared hosts may restrict disk space and bandwidth usage, and alot of them advertise unlimited bandwidth and disk space. Although they say unlimited there are always limits, with a shared account you are actually sharing a server with several other websites sometimes there can be more than 100 websites on the same server, each shared account uses up system memory, plus other resources as well, too many sites on a server will slow it down and cause it to crash at times. When it crashes your site is then down as well along with every other site on that server.
Also you are sharing the IP of that server with all of those people as well.
If your site is relatively new then this is the best option for you as new sites usually require much less resources and usually have no problems.
Pros - Price is relatively cheap for hosting, if you get a good web host you are in great shape.
Cons - If your site grows fast you will be running into server problems and down time., If your site grows real big you may have to move it.
