Expired Game and arcade site domain names

Sometimes people lose interest in their site and allow the domain name to expire without renewing it. Once this happens the domain name then goes through a several step process before it is available for registration by the general public.

There are a few reasons for buying an expired domain name, first the site may already have some traffic going to it, the domain name may also have a decent or high Google PR rating, or the name is a really good name to have and may be valuable.

If the name is a really good name then comes the battle to register it, there are tools and services out there that will help you to find the soon to expire names and some will even give you detailed information such as inbound links from the search engines, alexa rating, pr and more.

Finding soon to expire or expired domain names

There are several sites out there that offer a service that allows you to look up soon to expire domain names, you can enter either game or arcade into the search criteria and it will display all the soon to expire names with those words in the domain name. Some of these sites are free or charge a small fee for extras like the google, alexa and search engine information. A few of these sites are listed below,

http://www.cheaphostingdirectory.com/expireddomainswithtraffic.html - has a list of soon to expire names with alexa information, pretty good site.

www.snapitnow.com/ - This is a nice tool, enter arcade game on the top line, select most popular then check all the boxes and it will give you several word combinations .coms that are available to register.

www.whois.net/ - Type in Arcade into the box where it says Search through deleted domains and see all the results, nice site although it doesn't have the soon to expire list.

www.deleteddomains.com - will show the first 20 results of the search, requires paid registration to view the rest.

https://www.snapnames.com/index.jsp - Search for soon to expire names.

Grabbing a soon to expire name

If you find a decent name thats about to expire there are a few ways you can go about trying to get the domain name.

You can take a chance and wait until the name is available and register it, this is risky as the name may get grabbed right when its deleted.

Use a registrar and try to back order the name, they usually charge a little more for this service and will try to register it in your name once its dropped. One tip is to see which registrar currently has the name and try to back order it directly through them. If its a good and valuable name this may not work as so many people will be doing this.

Use a service to try to grab your wanted name, there are a few out there but the one problem with them is that if they do aquire the name then they may auction the name off with other interested people and you may be paying more for them, the sites who offer this service are described and listed in the article below.

I just read an article about one mans quest to aquire a domain name he knew was expiring and that he really wanted, the link is here - www.mikeindustries.com/blog/archive/2005/03/how-to-snatch-an-expiring-domain - also don't forget to read the notes at the bottom of that page.
